Well, I'm officially going to post my first post on this blog. (This is Kevin). Seeing how the majority of my life is spent doing remarkably geeky stuff, I'm going to post about the geeky stuff that I've been trying to do.

1)I've been trying to download, install and run a version of Storesonlinepro on my PC for the last couple of months. I gave up and took a rest but then at work (As of Friday I worked at Storesonline) I heard they made an update to the download. So this morning I tried it again and.....it worked! The only issue now is that none of my licenses and passwords will get me into the downloaded version. So now I have to figure out how to get the license and password without getting dinged with a download services fee (I heard they were going to charge people who called in for help with the download). I may just wait and see if I can get my new boss over at PMI to go get everyone the password.


2)In the storesonline software, there's a way to download a backup of your website. Until a couple weeks ago I didn't know how to open the format it was in. However, someone at work introduced me to the wonders of winrar, an extracting program similar to winzip, but on steroids. It opened up the backup to reveal nothing but beautiful XML files. I thought I had hit the motherlode. Quickly and easily creating entire websites seemed to be within my grasp, however, I noticed that each element and page is assigned a lengthy ID. I'm now afraid that Storesonline is storing all of the contents of the various elements and pages in one mega-database instead of miniture databases for each site. If the former is true, then that puts my plan of automating the site creation on hold until I can either figure how to create elements with different ID's without jacking up some poor suckers website just because he had the same element ID, or quickly creating the elements and pages in the actual builder. I'm guessing the latter is more likely, so I'm going to have to investigate how I can do this.

3)I've been preaching to the world about AutoHotkey. It is amazing at taking repetitive jobs and automating them. The big problem with hooking it up to the Storesonline storebuilder is that the download time from the various pages varies so dramatically, that I would have to create a 15 second delay between each page change just to make sure that the script doesn't get ahead of the actual program. Another problem is that the storebuilder's buttons are always changing position as more elements are created. So I can't set the screen coordinates for the various buttons, which is pretty frustrating.

Today I start at my new job, back at PMI. While I would be lying if I said I was excited to be going back to the company that I quit just 3 months ago. I am hoping that programming for PMI will be better than coaching for PMI. Less time on the phone and more time actually building websites. I am looking forward to the hardware/software they promised us. 2 widescreen monitors and photoshop instead of fireworks. That's going to be fun. It's amazing what a difference these little things make to geeks like me. Everyone who found out they were moving to PMI was upset, but when they found out they'd each be getting dual widescreen monitors they started to chill. Funny, everyone is OK about PMI now because PMI spent an extra $250 for a second monitor. Yet, we are all going to end up paying an additional $300-$700 for our new healthcare plan each year. But I guess that's just human nature.

Pregnant and Bored

I have a problem. I get bored easily. It doesn't help that I "work" from home and have all the time in the world. On top of that, I am pregnant. Don't get me wrong, I am so happy to be pregnant, but it has been extremely difficult not being able to do some of the things I could 6 months ago. So I am on the lookout for "fun pregnant activities." I came up with my own list of ideas...and it has helped that the weather is warming up a bit. PLEASE tell me of any fun activities you can think of: I love being outside, it has to be cheap or free, and I like to be "active" (although I am limited as of right now). So good luck and thanks!

How long have you been together? How long did you date? We have been married almost 3 years (in May) and we dated for about 5-6 months before getting engaged.

Who said I love you first? Kevin said it like 4 times before I did. I was so scared! It's the "three words!"

Who is smarter? Definitely Kevin.

Who does the housework? We share in it, but since I am home during the day, I do most of it. I save the tub and toilet for him though. :)

Who sleeps on the right? I always sleep farthest from the door, regardless of which side.

Who pays the bills? Anything online--Kevin. But I write checks now if we need to.

Who kissed who first? I can proudly say that I kissed Kevin first! I tried so hard to not be so bold. But in Kevin's defense, he had been trying to kiss me for several days, but I avoided the situation (I was scared!)

Who asked out who first? Kevin asked me to BYU's Homecoming. I jumped around the kitchen for 10 min. because I was so excited.

Who proposed? Kevin took me to American Fork Canyon where it was all snowy. We walked along the path and came across a dozen roses...then he asked me. Very romantical.

Who has more siblings? Kevin has 4 other siblings. I have 3.

Who wears the pants? Is this a trick question?

7 Random Things About Rhiannon

(I was "tagged" or something or other)

1. I'm a little OCD about some things...like I hate when the scrub brush in the sink is dirty and when the bedsheets are not straight.

2. I have gone cowtipping. If you have 10-15 minutes, I can tell you the whole story.

3. I enjoy bathroom humor. :)

4. I dressed up like a gorilla my junior year in college (only a couple days) and walked on BYU campus...and then "chimped" across University Pkwy. It was great. I'll have to post a picture sometime.

5. I claimed to have an "outty" belly button when I was little. At least it was pretty close. I don't anymore, however, unless you count being pregnant.

6. I wanted to be Cosmo the Cougar and went to the first day of tryouts.

7. I only had crushes on coaches and teachers in high school. The stories...

IT'S A BOY!!!

This comic is exactly how I felt. I really was excited to have either a boy or girl, I just wanted everything to be okay.

Granted, we totally thought we were having a girl (as did most of you), so we were completely surprised when they said he was a boy!

We are so excited! Let's be honest, I really needed to have a boy first. :)

Snowshoeing Extravaganzas

This winter, Kevin and I spent some time snowshoeing, the greatest Christmas gift ever! (thanks, mom)

The first trip we went on was up at Aspen Grove. It was so pretty! There were no trails, just snow everywhere! I think we saw one or two people the entire time...and that was on our way back to the parking lot.

New President of the Church
