Christmas traditions...some old, some new

Decorating the tree (I think it's all the kids' favorite tradition); MJ was sleeping, so it actually worked out pretty well.

Taryn next to her favorite tree at Festival of Trees.  This is my favorite tradition.  We've been going for years, and it's as fun way to kick off the Christmas season.  The kids don't love it, but I decided a long time ago that whether they look back at this tradition with fondness or resentment, I don't care.  We'll still go every year. :)

Watching Elf and a sleepover in the living room

Making gingerbread houses with our old Orem friends (another favorite)

We tried out Luminaria this year at Thanksgiving Point.  With discounted tickets (It's really pricey otherwise), it did not disappoint.  I really loved it.  It was the perfect mix of fun lights and displays (and even smells infused at spots!) and spiritual in the Light Garden with Christ statues.  The kids liked it, though they got tired of walking by the end and had to be bribed with warm donut holes.

We somehow forgot to grab MJ's winter coat before we left, so luckily we found Reed's light jacket in the backseat (first time I've been grateful that Reed is so messy and doesn't clean up after himself).  So we tried our best to keep her warm with that and a blanket wrapped around her at times.

They told us that the artist of these Christ statues wanted them to be interactive- sit on Jesus' lap, touch it, etc.

Corbin took it upon himself to drink from His cup....

We also won the "lottery" and got to attend this fun, little train (look how cute it is!) through "Santa's village."  It's a short ride through a few yards in a neighborhood that they've transformed.  There are kid elves running around, lights, a stop to see Santa and get a treat, and pictures of Christ through His life.  It was a new thing I've been wanting to try for years and we finally got to do it.

A fun service we did for someone

Fun times at the trampoline place with cousins.  We decided a couple years ago that we would have a cousin day instead of exchanging presents.  It's so much better and the kids love it.
