Boating

Our neighbors, Ann and Brian, invited us to go boating with Ann's dad on Utah Lake. Kevin and I have only been boating a couple of times in our lives, so we jumped at the opportunity. (I've always been jealous of those people who go to Lake Powell every year). I have tried water skiing one time and Kevin had once or twice as well. So we were newbies.

Reed was so cute in his little life jacket. He did awesome on the boat! He only whimpered a few times and usually when the boat was stopped.

Brian giving Kevin some instructions on wake boarding.

Almost there.

Good job Kevin! He got up a couple times which is impressive considering he cracked at least 2 ribs in the process (one on each side)!

Somehow I got up the first try.

I ended up doing pretty well wake boarding. I even got some air jumping the wake!

I also tried knee boarding which was super fun! Kevin was done due to the rib-cracking situation.

Doing a 360 on the knee board. Ann and Brian made it sound really easy but it was pretty tough. I got stuck going backwards for a little while before completing the turn. Then they gave me credit after. Thanks guys.

Reed's hair was awesome! And he didn't even fuss about the wind in his face, probably because he was so dang tired. He hadn't taken a nap yet.

He couldn't last.

Our little water adventure was SO fun! And since we had so much fun we realized there was only one solution: we need to buy a boat (or convince Kevin's family to get one). :)

Hmm...did you know bull sharks can swim in fresh water?

How fun! Seriously, broken ribs-ouch! Good luck with my parents, we've been trying that one for YEARS. I am now working on Tom...he's game for a fishing boat, but I've gotta get him to upgrade to a ski/fish combo boat. The longer we stay in the land of 10,000 lakes, the better my chances.

You must have some pretty strong arms... wake boarding is all in the arms. At least that's what I tell myself because I can't do it anymore and I'm sure my legs are still as strong as they used to be...

Looks like a fun time. That's too bad that Kevin got hurt. Rhiannnon, you looked awesome out there! Way to go!
