Adventures

Dinosaur Museum

I went out on a limb and took Reed to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point for the first time. I thought it was so cool and would have had a fun time reading all the cool facts about dinosaurs but, naturally, we pretty much ran through. There were really only two places that Reed liked--the water play area and the sand area. Besides that, he was scared out of his mind! SO SAD! He would literally crawl up me when he saw any big dinosaur bones displayed. In fact, he had his first nightmare that night which (I'm assuming) was a result of the Dinosaur Museum. :( I only took a few pictures since I was holding Frog most of the time.

A little upset in the water play area when sand was accidentally thrown on his head. Plus, he didn't want his hands wet. Tricky, eh?

Searching for bones.

Hogle Zoo

This past Saturday we went to the Hogle Zoo for the first time. It kinda sucked. It really was not a good zoo. But Reed didn't know any better, so I guess it was fun to see him looking at the 6 animals that actually were there.

We all liked the elephants, especially the cute baby elephant!

Reed making elephant sounds. :)

And the best part of the whole thing was still the playground!

Yeah, the zoo isn't so great! Our first time going to the dinosaur museum we saw a 3D movie on underwater creatures. Dash wouldn't keep the glasses on though, and the movie looks really messed up if you don't wear them so it was kind of a bust. Live and learn!

Toddlers are so funny with that sensory stuff....sand,water, grass, etc. Yeah, dino museum is probably more fun a little older. Oh, and steer clear of the Dinosaur Park in Ogden for a few years, cuz if the fossils were scary, no way will "real looking" dinos with sounds piped in be fun. Although, we've found that to be a fun place for dino obsessed boys, combined with a night at the cabin/visit to Grandpa Parry/visit to the Nature Center in Ogden-makes for a decent 'Ogden getaway'.

Hogle Zoo is not great, but every zoo has something cool about it...the prairie dog play area and the train are our favorites at Hogle Zoo. And, the elephant exhibit is decent. We love zoos, and go over and over-it gets pretty boring for me, but the kids love it, and it wears them out. :)
