I got BIT by a little dog today (but with sharp teeth)! I was just running along with Reed in the stroller when two dogs attacked me. They kept nipping at me and, finally, one got me good. Oh yeah, the owner was right there and didn't really do anything about it. Did I mention that I hate dogs...and dog owners too. Here is my battle wound.
I took the picture after I cleaned it out and put band-aids on. Then I remembered that I should document this to indoctrinate my children to also hate dogs.

San Diego Trip
On Wednesday night, we left our apartment at 9:30pm to drive through the night to visit our friends, Ammon and Cassidy and their baby, Scout. We arrived there about 8:30am (we met in L.A. first). First off, here's the awesome history of our friendship:
A few years ago, I worked at a place called NES, helping people with disabilities learn to work. After a day, they put me with the hotel crew. Before then, however, I met a girl named Cassidy who I thought was really cool. I even learned that her good friend, Nicole, was also good friends with my sister, Allie. After another 2 days making beds at a hotel (I didn't really help the people work, I just worked really), I decided to quit (sadly, 3 days is not my record for shortest amount of days before quitting a job). Anyway, I debated whether I wanted to quit, because I thought I could become really good friends with this girl at work. But it would be too weird to say "let's hang out" after only knowing each other for 3 days. Well, I quit the job. Months later, I asked Allie if it'd be weird if she had Nicole tell Cassidy my phone number so we could hang out. I realize it would be even weirder now but hey, she was cool and I didn't have a lot of friends. Allie said it was weird so I forgot about it. About 2 years later, I was selling a glider ottoman chair on craigslist. I got a reply from a guy named Ammon who looked to have a Hawaiian last name. (Light bulb!) I remembered Cassidy's husband's name was Ammon and that he was Hawaiian. Could it be?! I excitedly called Kevin at work to tell him my inklings (did you know this part, Cass?) and eagerly awaited for them to pick up the chair. Turns out, it WAS them and Cass remembered me (I was afraid of that too). Long story short...we were in the same Stake, we both were pregnant (our babies are only 2 weeks apart), we agreed to meet up for a BBQ,...and it's been friendship bliss ever since! :) I hope that doesn't sound too creepy. Well, they moved to San Diego over a month ago, and that was just way to long for me not to see them. So we made a trip of it. Prepare yourself for a lot of pictures...
The way there...Reed woke up and he was a happy frog. Jayna lent us a "magic pillow." It used to be so easy to change him on the passenger's seat when he didn't have to curl up in a ball. He was happy getting changed this time but never again after that.
Reed was scared of the ocean. It was pretty cold.
He was unsure of the sand. It was his first time.
But he learned from Scout and got into it.
Our family
We went to a Dodgers game (which made Ammon very happy). We sat in right field where they had all-you-can-eat hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, peanuts, and drinks. It was great! We figured out that the guys ate about $50 worth of food (each)! It was also the first time Reed stayed up so much past his bed time. Luckily, he wasn't crazy at all. I think he was so tired that he was deliriously happy. I'll take it.
More beach time. Reed got much more comfortable. He liked eating the sand.
Making Ammon into a turtle.
One of my best friends, Wynnie, ended up being in San Diego the same weekend! It was so good to see her.
Reed did a lot of this in the car. Did I mention that swim diapers are worthless? Both him and Scout peed through them before we even got to the beach.
I saw seals for the first time. They're hilarious animals, and a little pointless too. :)
Cass's family, the Deans, were so nice to let us stay with them. Reed learned a few things while we were there. I'm not sure how I feel about that first one. He followed those dogs around everywhere.
We saw the San Diego Temple which is just as beautiful in real life as it is in pictures.
We went to some tide pools and saw lots of crabs. Scout was not scared of them. Reed was a little wimpy about it. We really need to do something about that.
On our trip home (which was rough since we didn't drive through the night and Reed was awake most of the time), we stopped to eat at Bob's Big Boys. Kevin has been wanting to try one of their burgers for a while now, so he tried one out at 9:30am--I got a waffle instead.
Thanks Ammon, Cassidy, and Scout for such an awesome trip! Thanks to the Deans for adding three more people to their already full home. You guys were great!

Fun in the Pool
We have taken Reed to Kevin's parent's pool a few times already this summer. He LOVES it! I think he could stay in there all day until he shriveled up into a tiny prune. We sometimes take shifts with him, because we get tired of the water first! I do love free fun.
Frogs love the water! :)
Reed and Asher
Big boy
Whoops. That was a little nerve-wracking.
Of so fun.
I'm not sure if he was happy or sad here.

Weaning Part 2
Which feeding should I drop first? Here's our approximate eating schedule:
7:30AM--Nurse
8:30AM--Breakfast
12:00PM--Lunch and Nurse
4:00PM--Nurse
6/7:00PM--Dinner
Bedtime--Nurse
I'm torn between the 12:00 and 4:00 feeding. I thought maybe the 12:00 since he's eating a lot at lunch anyway whereas 4:00 is just nursing (though maybe I should do a snack or something). But I thought maybe dropping the 4:00 feeding first since he usually naps about that time, so I need to be at home anyway (granted, I'm always at home for lunch too...but I could feed him lunch elsewhere). What do you guys think? I have no idea what I am doing.

Weaning?
What the heck are you supposed to do when your baby has refused a bottle for months and doesn't know how to drink from a sippy cup? I have like 10 different kinds: hard top, soft top, handles, no handles, straw, etc. etc. etc. He usually just chews on it and then pushes it away. Sometimes he'll take a few suckles, but that's it. Any suggestions?
